Egg yolk lecithin is a lipid component found in the yolk of an egg, a compound substance in which several components exist together. Thanks to phosphatidylcholine, its key component, it acts as an emulsifier that blends water and oil evenly, and it is also one of the constituents that make up the cell membranes of our bodies.
Lecithin is obtained from egg yolk at a yield of only about seven percent, and it has been used in small quantities in cosmetics and health foods. Drawing on long-accumulated know-how, the company extracts egg yolk lecithin itself and produces it in a form that allows a generous amount to be worked into natural soap.
The skin is the largest organ, wrapping the whole body. For that reason, transdermal absorption, delivering components by applying them to the skin or washing with them, has been studied for a long time.
That said, the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin, is arranged to keep external substances out and so has low permeability. To address this, the product is made with a specially developed fermentation method and accumulated technique, and the judgement of how well it serves is one we leave to those who use it.
